Sculpture Garden Expansion Update: 2/23/18

This week, NOMA began mobilization of the Besthoff Sculpture Garden Expansion construction site. Mobilization consists of preparatory work and operations necessary for the movement of equipment, supplies, and incidentals to the project site before construction can begin. Museum and park visitors will notice that a fence has gone up around the site as part of this process.

As an additional part of the mobilization process, we have fenced off a small area in the existing Besthoff Sculpture Garden. This will be the termination site of the Moses Bridge, or Canal Link, that will connect the current garden with the garden expansion. The Moses Bridge is a one-of-a-kind design that creates the unique experience in the garden of walking through water. Seventy feet in length, the bridge responds to New Orleans City Park’s request to not interrupt Roosevelt Mall. We have included images of precedents to the bridge below.

NOMA looks forward to an ongoing dialog with our neighbors as the expansion project progresses. To get involved, ask questions or request further information, please contact Margaux Krane at press@noma.org.
