NOMA’s Art Thrives program creates opportunities exclusively for adults ages 55 and up to learn new skills while building community and having fun in the process. In collaboration with the NOLA Project, we invite you to join us for an eight-session theater course, themed “Shakespeare Alive!”

Studio KIDS! (Ages 6–10): Wind Sculpture Mobiles

Join us at the museum on select Saturday mornings for Studio KIDS! youth and pre-teen art-making workshops. We’ll take inspiration from an artwork in the galleries or garden, then return to the studio to make our own creations with a teaching artist. Registration is required and includes all art-making materials.

Over four weeks, participants worked with teaching artists and museum staff to learn hand-building techniques while exploring the progression of ceramics over the past 200 years.

Art Thrives: Drawing on Sculpture (Ages 55 and up)

Drawing on Sculpture is a workshop that will guide you from sketching in the Besthoff Sculpture Garden to creating sculpture in our art studio as you learn how to think and work in three dimensions. This workshop will be taught over three Saturdays on September 23, September 30, and October 7 by teaching artist Chicory Miles. Using a variety of materials, you will learn to understand the lines, shapes, and forms in space.
