JOB TITLE:  Visitor Experience Representative
REPORTS TO:  Manager of Visitor Experience


JOB SUMMARY:  A Visitor Experience Representative requires excellent customer service skills, interests in art and the museum’s collection and exhibitions, and the ability to use diplomacy with difficult situations should they arise. This position assists visitors by introducing them to the museum and providing information about the permanent collection, special exhibitions, and sculpture garden. In addition, the associate will work with the education department to record school and group tour attendance, answer common questions about the museum, City Park, and New Orleans, and assist with transportation questions. This position also works with volunteers on a daily basis.



  • Customer service oriented
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including weekends
  • Assists with general museum reception and visitor experience, meets and greets the general public at the main entrance reception desk
  • Provides general information about the museum, exhibits and the community
  • Takes admission and public program fees using a Point of Sale system
  • Answers the telephone and fields calls to appropriate staff members
  • Handles and balances cash and related paper entries
  • Stay informed about upcoming programs and fundraising events, and on occasion assist with registration
  • Assist visitors with questions about City Park and the surrounding area as needed
  • Arrange transportation for museum visitors as needed
  • Handles membership renewals and request for account updates
  • Collect zip codes for visitor reporting
  • Reports comments and feedback from visitors to the Manager of Visitor Experience



  • Help keep the front desk organized
  • Stock supplies, floor plans and maps as needed
  • Work museum shop as needed



  • High school diploma



  • Some computer skills
  • Some interest in art and art history
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong interpersonal skills and patience



  • Ability to lift 35 lbs
  • Ability to be on one’s feet all day



  • Pleasant working environment in a secure indoor setting
