Besthoff Sculpture Garden Tour
Join NOMA’s docents for a free guided tour of the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays, weather dependent, at noon. Represented sculptors include Pierre Auguste Renoir, Rene Magritte, Henry Moore, Isamu Noguchi, George Rodrigue, and Robert Indiana, among others. Meet at the gates to the garden, which offers free admission year-round.

Studio KIDS! Grayscale Collage workshop
This fall, Studio KIDS presents “Text and Textures” art classes for kids on select Saturday mornings from 10 am to noon. Perfect for students ages 5-10 who want to get creative and learn art-making techniques. Advance registration required.
Artist’s Choice Film Series: Fame
Bodies of Knowledge brings together ten international contemporary artists to reflect on the role that language plays in archiving and asserting our cultural identities. In conjunction with this exhibition, NOMA will screen movies selected by these artists that reflect their inspirations, interests, and ideals. The series concludes with the 1980 blockbuster hit Fame, selected by performance artist Edward Spots.
Safar musical performance by Mahmoud Chouki and Dan Oestreicher
Throughout the run of Bodies of Knowledge, Mahmoud Chouki will create a new musical composition and series of site-specific performances for the exhibition, collectively titled Safar, that explore how music can speak across cultural divides to envision new forms of dialogue between East and West. Chouki will be joined by New Orleans-based bassist and luthier Martin Masakowski.

Japan Fest 2019
Organized by NOMA, the Consulate General of Japan in Nashville and the Japan Club in New Orleans, Japan Fest is the largest celebration of Japanese culture in the Gulf South. It’s a day to sample Japanese cuisine and enjoy traditional dance groups, martial arts demonstrations, anime cosplayers, tours of NOMA’s Japanese art collection, fashion shows, and much more.

Artist’s Perspective: Dawn DeDeaux discusses Tina Freeman: Lamentations
Throughout the exhibition of photographs in Tina Freeman: Lamentations, a seven-year photo-documentation of Louisiana’s wetlands and the glacial landscapes of the Arctic and Antarctic by Tina Freeman, fellow artists, including Dawn DeDeaux, will offer their perspective on the subject matter.
The NOLA Project presents The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
Back for their tenth collaboration with NOMA, the NOLA Project theater company returns to the Besthoff Sculpture Garden with a new twist on Washington Irving’s Halloween classic The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by ensemble member Pete McElligott. Tickets may be purchased in advance.
