Gallery talks are casual conversations between artists, curators, and other special guests with NOMA visitors frequently scheduled throughout the year. Fan Zhang, professor of practice at the Asian Art Institute at Tulane University, will discuss the exhibition Buddha and Shiva, Lotus and Dragon: Masterworks from the Mr. and Mrs. John D. Rockefeller 3rd Collection at Asia Society.

Friday Nights at NOMA features an exciting lineup of programs in 2020: live music, movies, activities for kids and families, and more. Regular admission prices apply—NOMA members are FREE—but there is no extra charge for programs or films. All galleries, the Museum Shop, and Café NOMA remain open until 9 pm.

Artist’s Perspective with Rose Bratcher on Buddha and Shiva, Lotus and Dragon – CANCELED
Throughout the exhibition Buddha and Shiva, Lotus and Dragon: Masterworks from the Mr. and Mrs. John D. Rockefeller 3rd Collection at Asia Society, artists influenced by Asian aesthetics will offer their perspective on the objects on view. Rose Bratcher is an ensō painter and a monk at the New Orleans Zen Temple.
Japanese Way of Tea demonstration with Naomi Yoder – CANCELED
In conjunction with the exhibition Buddha and Shiva, Lotus and Dragon: Masterworks from the Mr. and Mrs. John D. Rockefeller 3rd Collection at Asia Society, Naomi Yoder, a board member of the Japan Society of New Orleans who holds an intermediate license with the Urasenke Tea School, will demonstrate a traditional Japanese tea ceremony.

Gallery talks are casual conversations between artists, curators, and other special guests with NOMA visitors frequently scheduled throughout the year. Richard Collins, abbot of the New Orleans Zen Temple, will discuss the exhibition Buddha and Shiva, Lotus and Dragon: Masterworks from the Mr. and Mrs. John D. Rockefeller 3rd Collection at Asia Society.
Collins is a former RosaMary Professor of English at Xavier University and Dean Emeritus of the School of Arts and Humanities at Cal State University Bakersfield, he is the author or editor of several books, including No Fear Zen and Mushotoku Mind: The Heart of the Heart Sutra.
