Group Visit Information

The New Orleans Museum of Art warmly welcomes groups of all ages and interests. We understand that every group is unique, and we strive to provide a valuable experience at NOMA that suits your preferences. You can lead your tour of NOMA’s galleries and the Besthoff Sculpture Garden to explore the museum at your own pace or request a docent to guide your experience for a deeper dive into the permanent collection or special exhibitions.

Confirmed reservations are required for all groups of 10 or more to ensure a seamless and enjoyable time at the museum. Please note that groups without reservations are subject to capacity restrictions and are not guaranteed admission.

The K–12, college and university, and adult group tour pages provide additional information and booking instructions.

Please review NOMA museum guidelines and group guidelines before your visit.

Group Guidelines:

Every group deserves an amazing experience at NOMA. Visitor safety and well-being is NOMA’s highest priority. All guidelines are in place to ensure the safety of your group, visitors, museum staff, and works of art on view.

  • Complete a visit request form for your group category.
  • If you anticipate a late arrival, please call the museum at 504.658.4149. Tours are forfeited when the group does not arrive within 30 minutes of a scheduled appointment.
  • Plan to leave large backpacks, water bottles, and food items in a safe place outside the museum. If you cannot do so, the museum will collect these items at the start of your visit and arrange for you to pick them up after your tour.
  • Student and University groups must check in to the museum through the Group Tours Courtyard on the museum’s south side near the Museum Shop.
  • Adult groups must check in at the Admissions Desk located in the Great Hall.
  • Plan to meet with a NOMA representative ten minutes before your scheduled tour and advise of any necessary accommodations.
  • Student and University groups check in to the museum through the courtyard, located on the left side, by the NOMA Museum Shop.
  • Adult Groups check in at the admissions desk in the Great Hall, the main entrance to the museum.
  • NOMA-guided tours take precedence over self-guided tours. When leading your group through the galleries and the Besthoff Sculpture Garden, be mindful of other visitors and refrain from blocking entrances or hallways.
  • The museum welcomes all guests with patience and kindness. Behavior deemed inappropriate toward NOMA staff, docents, volunteers, or other visitors is strictly prohibited. NOMA reserves the right to refuse or revoke the admission of any group member whose conduct violates Museum or Group guidelines, including removal from the premises and potential restriction from future visits.

If you have any questions about your visit, please send them to grouptours@noma.org. We are here to assist you and ensure your group has a memorable visit to NOMA.
