Art in Bloom 2019 | Illuminations: Looking Within and Beyond

One of the most anticipated springtime events in New Orleans, Art in Bloom showcases spectacular floral designs created by over 100 exhibitors that remain on display at NOMA for four days, from March 28-31. With a focus on light, transformation and discovery as New Orleans enters its fourth century, Art in Bloom’s 2019 event theme is Illuminations: Looking Within and Beyond.

NOMA Highlights Tour

Sculpture Garden Tour

Join NOMA’s docents for a free guided tour of the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden on Fridays, Saturdays, and Mondays, weather dependent, at noon. Represented sculptors include Pierre Auguste Renoir, Rene Magritte, Henry Moore, Isamu Noguchi, and Robert Indiana, among others. Meet at the gates to the garden, which offers free admission year-round.

Studio KIDS!

This winter/spring, Studio KIDS! classes explore art made by diverse cultures throughout time as inspiration for art projects. From sculpting to painting, each class features different media and techniques. Attend one class or the entire series. Advance registration reqjuired.

Poets for Art

In celebration of National Poetry Month, the New Orleans Museum of Art is offering a free poetry workshop on Saturday, April 6, for students in grades 8–12, led by Louisiana Poet Laureate Jack B. Bedell. Advance registration is required.

Slow Art Day

On Saturday, April 6, NOMA is participating in International Slow Art Day, which encourages visitors to slow down and explore one or several works of art for a minimum of five minutes each. Instructional materials may be found at the admission desk.
