Art Thrives: Drawing on Sculpture (Ages 55 and up)

Drawing on Sculpture is a workshop that will guide you from sketching in the Besthoff Sculpture Garden to creating sculpture in our art studio as you learn how to think and work in three dimensions. This workshop will be taught over three Saturdays on September 23, September 30, and October 7 by teaching artist Chicory Miles. Using a variety of materials, you will learn to understand the lines, shapes, and forms in space.

This three-week series of workshops hosted by Creative Assembly Cohort member Daniel Fitzpatrick aims to give poets of all ages and experience levels the space to write. In NOMA's permanent collection galleries, participants will explore a few techniques that can help to cultivate a habit of poetry and jumpstart new writing. Participants will also discuss ways that visual art can help to understand different approaches to poetry, and how the space between images and words can open windows into the self.

Social Emotional Learning Workshop (Ages 6 and Up)

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is an educational framework to help foster social skills that develop and maintain healthy relationships with self and others. SEL at NOMA connects ideas like empathy and self-esteem with the artists and artworks in the museum’s permanent collection or featured in special exhibitions. Designed for children ages 6 and up.
