Summer Camp Session 5: Human/Nature (Ages 8–10)
Mon, July 17th - Fri, July 21st
Join us for summer camp at NOMA in 2023! Weeklong camp sessions offer small-group experiences devoted to a single age group at a time.
Session 5: Human/Nature (Ages 8–10) | July 17–21
Environment and Coexistence
How do the forces of nature shape our lives, and how do we affect the environment in return? Campers will think about our unique surroundings in southeastern Louisiana, consider the ways in which people and artists work with—and against—nature, and create their own works about our encounters with the natural world.
About Summer Camp at NOMA
Our summer camps are grounded in experiences with art in NOMA’s collection, special exhibitions, and the Besthoff Sculpture Garden. Campers explore the galleries and garden to engage in close looking and use conversations about artworks as a launching-off point to develop critical thinking skills, connect with others, and deepen personal identity and creativity.
We emphasize an interdisciplinary approach to creative thinking and art-making. Your young artist will explore various art-making mediums and processes including drawing, writing, movement, sculpture, painting, and more—all guided by professional teaching artists.
Summer camp sessions are based on guiding themes that vary week to week. Sign up for one OR multiple to build a meaningful summer experience!
