Noontime Talk: Louisiana Furniture with Philippe Halbert of Yale University

Fri, November 2nd, 2018 at 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Noontime talks are casual conversations between artists, curators, and other special guests with NOMA visitors frequently scheduled throughout the year.

Join Philippe Halbert as he discusses NOMA’s collection of Louisiana-made furniture in the Kuntz Gallery. Halbert olds a B.A. in French and Francophone Studies and History from the College of William and Mary and an M.A. from the Winterthur Program in American Material Culture. His research centers on the material culture of early modern Europe and the colonial Americas, specifically France and the French Atlantic world. His themes of interest include the cultural history of design, modes of display within the historic interior, patronage and consumption, and global encounters in the decorative arts. Deeply committed to the museum field and public engagement initiatives in the humanities, Halbert most recently served as the 2014-2015 Graduate Intern in the Department of Sculpture and Decorative Arts at the J. Paul Getty Museum
