Music in the Garden presents Ashlin Parker

$17 – $20This fall, join the New Orleans musicians you love for intimate, socially distanced outdoor performances in NOMA’s Besthoff Sculpture Garden, assembled by internationally renowned multi-instrumentalist and composer Mahmoud Chouki. Choose the “Music Box” by Café NOMA for an exciting boxed dinner option to enjoy during each performance.
NOMA is excited to present Ashlin Parker for the second performance of the Music in the Garden series on Friday, October 16.

A rain cancellation will be determined by 1 pm the day of the event. In the event of a rain cancellation, tickets will be refunded.

Café NOMA will offer a pre-order option of food and drink for the concert series ready upon your arrival. The deadline for ordering is October 13 at 5 pm. Concertgoers may not bring items from outside the Besthoff Sculpture Garden. A cash-only bar will sell select beverages.

About Ashlin Parker
A versatile jazz trumpeter based in New Orleans, Ashlin Parker is sought after for big band, small ensemble, and solo performances. He has played with various ensembles at jazz festivals and clubs in Australia, Barbados, Bermuda, Brazil, Canada, England, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Italy, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Norway, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, and Wales. Ashlin leads the Trumpet Mafia and plays regularly with ensembles in New Orleans, such as the Ellis Marsalis Quintet, The New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, and Bill Summers and Jazalsa. He has played with musicians such as Ellis Marsalis, Jason Marsalis, Delfeayo Marsalis, Herlin Riley, Roland Guerin, Leroy Jones, Derek Douget, Adonis Rose, Dr. John, Karl Denson, Igor Butman, and Nicholas Payton, as well as vocalists Rafael Saadiq, the O’Jays, Anthony Hamilton, PJ Morton, Aretha Franklin, Quiana Lynell, Tiffany Austin, and Dee Dee Bridgewater. Ashlin has played on more than 30 albums with other musicians and has featured solos on albums such as the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra’s Songs: The Music of Allen Toussaint (2019) and Live at Newport (2017), Tiffany Austin’s Unbroken (2018), Ellis Marsalis’s Ellis Marsalis Quintet plays Ellis Marsalis (2017), and Jason Marsalis’s Heirs of the Crescent City (2016).
In addition to teaching private lessons and leading master classes at many high schools, colleges, and universities throughout the U.S., Ashlin teaches children and teenagers at the Ellis Marsalis Center for Music (2015-present), teaches applied jazz trumpet lessons at the University of New Orleans (2011-present), and serves as a visiting assistant professor of jazz studies at Tulane University (2018-2020).
Safety Guidelines
NOMA is committed to the health and safety of our community. We require that all registrants to this event wear face masks as per CDC, state, and city guidelines. All staff and participants will be wearing face masks, with the exception of the on-stage musicians. There will be a minimum of 10 ft from the edge of the stage to the beginning of seating.
Per city guidelines, capacity will be limited to 50 people.
No social gathering will be permitted. Please maintain a safe distance of at least 6ft from those not in your party.
NOMA staff will be on site to monitor social distancing and assist with seating spacing. The amphitheater is comprised of grass berms. If you would like other seating, you will need to bring your own outdoor chairs or blankets for this event.
If you are not feeling well, especially if you have a fever, please stay home and plan to attend a future concert. All refunds due to illness will be 100% refunded.
