Woah, NOMA Has A New Website!

While randomly perusing the interwebs I stumbled upon an amazing redesign for the New Orleans Museum of Art. The logo is the same, but the site overhaul breathes new life into a brand that is having its own rebirth. Here are 5 reasons I’m obsessed with NOMA right now:

1. There comes a point in every cultural institution’s life, where they have to make the decision to upgrade or die in the abyss ofHTML sites from the early 90s. The new NOMA site is bold, colorful and shows that when you hire Canary Collective, you get a great new design.

2. Friday Nights have never been better with Where Y’Art featuring artist talks, family fun and live music. Sometimes its nice to escape the CBD for a post work cocktail.

3. The NOLA Project has lit the stage, sculpture garden, and great hall with site-specific performances that are funny, hip, and just plain good. If you haven’t gotten your ticket to Romeo and Juliet, shame on you.

4. Then there’s the Sculpture Garden. Open 7 days a week, its the perfect place to find a moment of solace while viewing sixty sculptures from artists from all over the world.

5. And finally, the not-so-new-anymore Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, Miranda Lash, has introduced a range of new work that has gotten me into NOMA more this year than my past 8 years in the city. The Swoon exhibit basically was the biggest deal of all time, but they’re not stopping there. NOMAhas commissioned Nigerian-born Odili Donald Odita to transform the first floor elevator lobby with a kaleidoscope mural that will be on view for two years. What a way to celebrate 100 years!
