Small Talks are ten-to-fifteen-minute gallery talks focused on one object or a small group of objects. These brief informal sessions enrich the visitor experience and allow visitors to learn more about works of art in NOMA’s permanent holdings as well as those on view in temporary exhibitions.

Wednesday, September 26, 3 pm: Curator Lisa Rotondo-McCord will discuss painting and calligraphy by Zen master Nantembo in the Art of Japan Gallery

Saturday, September 29, 3 pm: Docent Deb Houghton will discuss the work of abstract artist Joan Mitchell

Wednesday, October 3, 3 pm: Docent Bert Deffes will discuss Benjamin West’s Romeo and Juliet (1778).

The Lupin Galleries for Decorative Arts now includes a display of furniture by such Midcentury Modernist designers as as Charles and Ray Eames, Piero Fornasetti, Norman Churner, Arne Jacobsen, and Isamu Noguchi.

Noontime Talks (12 pm) are casual conversations frequently scheduled throughout the year at noon between artists, curators, and other special guests with NOMA visitors. In the week ahead, Curator Mel Buchanan will discuss the newly installed array of decorative arts in the Lupin Galleries on Wednesday, September 26.

Admission is FREE to NOMA on all Wednesdays courtesy of The Helis Foundation.
