Small Talks and Noontime Talks, December 5–12

Small Talks are ten-to-fifteen-minute gallery talks focused on one object or a small group of objects. These brief informal sessions enrich the visitor experience and allow visitors to learn more about works of art in NOMA’s permanent holdings as well as those on view in temporary exhibitions.

Wednesday, December 5, 3 pm: Curator Katie Pfohl will discuss the works on view in Mildred Thompson: Against the Grain.

Friday, December 7, 3 pm: Curator Russell Lord will discuss selections from Past Present Future: Building Photography at the New Orleans Museum of Art.

Saturday, December 8, 3 pm: Docent Harvey Orth will discuss Cubist Philosophers Jean Metzinger and Albert Gleizes.

Wednesday, December 12, 3 pm: Curator Katie Pfohl will discuss works in Ear to the Ground: Earth and Element in Contemporary Art.

Noontime Talks (12 pm) are casual conversations frequently scheduled throughout the year at noon between artists, curators, and other special guests with NOMA visitors. In the week ahead, Curator Vanessa Schmid will lead visitors through The Orléans Collection on Wednesday, December 5. Curatorial Fellow Allison Young will discuss works on view in the Great Hall in Lina Iris Viktor: A Haven. A Hell. A Dream Deferred on Wednesday, December 12.

Admission is FREE to NOMA on all Wednesdays courtesy of The Helis Foundation.

Docent guided tours of the museum are offered daily at 1 pm. Guided tours of the Besthoff Sculpture Garden are offered on Saturdays and Mondays at noon through December 15.
