About Dawn DeDeaux
Dawn DeDeaux’s work can be seen in the NOMA exhibition Ten Years Gone. DeDeaux is considered a pioneering artist in new media and has been acknowledged in text books and publications including a recent four page tribute in the New York Times. She has exhibited in museums throughout the country including the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, Armand Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, Baltimore Museum of Contemporary Art, Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, Delfina Studio Trust, London, the Blanton Museum and Ballroom Marfa in Texas, and the recent Prospect 3+ presentation of selections from her MotherShip series by Tulane University School of Public Health and A Studio in the Woods. DeDeaux is a recipient of a 1997 American Academy in Rome Prize as Knight Foundation Visiting Artist; 2013 Robert Rauschenberg Artist in Residence Fellow; and 2014 Prospect Biennial honoree together with Robert Wilson and Robert Ferris Thompson.

DeDeaux is among the founders of the New Orleans Contemporary Arts Center and served on its Board of Directors as Executive Vice President throughout the Center’s formative years. Her support has continued as the current CAC Silver Circle Artist of the Year. DeDeaux was the founding editor ofNOMA’s former journal Arts Quarterly and produced offsite educational programming for the Museum including African Art presentations at the annual Louisiana Jazz and Heritage Festival in the late 1970s and the City’s first radio program on the arts, ART NOW, for NPR affiliate WWNO. She is a co-founder of the organization COLORBLIND dedicated to the healing and advancement of race relations in post-Katrina New Orleans.


About Artful Palate

Café NOMA’s Artful Palate summer cooking series returns in 2015 with seven art-inspired cooking demonstrations led by Ralph Brennan Restaurant Group chefs. NOMA’s exhibition A Louisiana Parlor: Antebellum Taste & Context celebrates the acquisition of a superb rococo revival parlor from the Butler-Greenwood Plantation in St. Francisville, Louisiana. In honor of the exhibition, the Artful Palate demonstrations will feature Creole-inspired dishes and traditions. Chefs from Café NOMA, Ralph’s on the Park, Red Fish Grill, Brennan’s, Heritage Grill, Napoleon House and café b will lead the demonstrations, along with local guest chefs and purveyors. Artful Palate is free of charge and open on a first come, first served basis.
