Last week, the New Orleans Museum of Art hosted Urban Mosaics, an electrifying event showcasing the extraordinary talent of Creative Assembly Cohort artists Kr3wcial and Charm Taylor. True to the artists’ visions—and this year’s Creative Assembly theme—the night blended the essence of hip-hop with the rich cultural tapestry of New Orleans’s diverse neighborhoods.

The evening started with a performance by Saint Amethyst, accompanied by visually captivating videos created by Wino Willy. The fusion of live music and multimedia visuals set the stage for an immersive experience.

Charm Taylor and the Light took the spotlight, and multimedia artist Taylor’s performance wove together soulful melodies and personal lyrics to explore peace, hope, and the African American experiences.

Following this journey, rapper and lyricist Kr3wcial took the stage with his group, More Love, presenting a collection of unreleased songs. The audience was treated to a selection that showcased Kr3wcial’s skill and innovation within the hip-hop genre.

Each artist contributed a unique sound and style of storytelling, and as NOMA’s Community Engagement Manager, I look forward to more groundbreaking events and expressions from the Creative Assembly program.

Urban Mosaics not only celebrated the incredible talent within the residency program, but also displayed NOMA’s commitment to fostering a community that thrives on artistic diversity and innovation. The night was a testament to the power of music and art to unite communities and transcend cultural boundaries.
