Small Talks are ten-to-fifteen-minute gallery talks focused on one object or a small group of objects. These brief informal sessions enrich the visitor experience and allow visitors to learn more about works of art in NOMA’s permanent holdings as well as those on view in temporary exhibitions.
Wednesday, October 17, 3 pm: Docent Beth Akin will discuss Giovanni Boldoni’s Portrait of a Woman in Profile.
Friday, October 19, 3 pm: Curatorial Associate Anne Roberts will discuss “Abstract Thoughts.”

- 7:30 pm: Curator Katie Pfohl will introduce visitors to the new exhibition Ear to the Ground: Earth and Element in Contemporary Art.
- 8 pm: Curator Melissa Messina will discuss the new exhibition Mildred Thompson: Against the Grain.
- 8:30 pm: Curatorial Fellow Allison Young will discuss the exhibition Lina Iris Viktor: A Haven. A Hell. A Dream Deferred.
Saturday, October 20, 11 am: Docent Ambika Prasad will discuss Buddhist art in NOMA’s permanent collection.
Saturday, October 20, 3 pm: Docent Diane Finley will discuss Paintings in the Dutch Golden Age.
Wednesday, October 24, 3 pm: Curatorial Fellow Allison Young will discuss the exhibition Lina Iris Viktor: A Haven. A Hell. A Dream Deferred.
Noontime Talks (12 pm) are casual conversations frequently scheduled throughout the year at noon between artists, curators, and other special guests with NOMA visitors. In the week ahead, Curator Russell Lord will guide visitors through the exhibition Past Present Future: Building Photography at the New Orleans Museum of Art on Wednesday, October 17. Curator Katie Pfohl will discuss the works on view in Ear to the Ground: Earth and Element in Contemporary Art on Wednesday, October 24.

Docent guided tours of the museum are offered daily at 1 pm. Guided tours of the Besthoff Sculpture Garden are offered on Saturdays and Mondays at noon through November 26.
