Teen Art Council

The NOMA Teen Art Council (formerly known as the Teen Squad) is a diverse group of creative teens that serve as leaders and ambassadors of the museum. Teen Art Council members meet on a weekly basis throughout the school year to engage in arts immersion programming of all kinds: interviews with contemporary artists, meetings and tours with museum staff, art-making workshops, field trips to city arts organizations, planning and implementation of teen events at the museum, and more!

 

The NOMA Teen Art Council is recruiting new members for the 2020-2021 school year! 

Are you interested in learning about art through an encyclopedic collection spanning the centuries and continents? Are you interested in working with contemporary artists and museum professionals from New Orleans and beyond? Are you interested in designing programs and experiences for youth in your community? Become a part of the TAC family. As a TAC member, you’ll not only gain invaluable professional experience and exposure to creative careers in museums and the arts, you’ll develop as a creative thinker and leader.

FAQ

When does the Teen Art Council meet?

The TAC meets weekly on Thursday evenings, October through May and for select field trips and outings on other days. Due to Covid-19, TAC’s 2020-2021 year will adopt a hybrid model consisting of both [socially distant and masked] in-person and virtual meetings.

Who should apply?

Creative New Orleans high school students of all kinds! The TAC is open to students from a variety of school settings including public, charter, private and homeschool. We deeply value, celebrate and support all ranges of experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives. Teens who are interested in developing skills relating to community engagement, visual art, creative careers, and the art and museum fields are encouraged to apply.

Please note that the Teen Art Council is year-long commitment. Members meet weekly on Thursday evenings, October through May. TAC members can submit meetings and events for volunteer hours.
