Teen Art Council

The Teen Art Council (TAC) is a cohort of creative high school students and youth leaders who serve as ambassadors for the museum. Teen Art Council members meet on a weekly basis throughout the school year to plan programming for teen and youth audiences, meet with museum staff, take part in creative experiences with artworks and artists, and more!

TAC is now accepting applications for the 2024 spring semester, open to New Orleans area high school students. Ninth and tenth graders are especially encouraged to apply! Click here to access the online application form, due by noon on Wednesday, January 3, 2024. In-person interviews will take place after school on Wednesday, January 10. Applicants will be notified by Friday, January 12.

Selected applicants will begin in-person weekly meetings beginning on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.

What does TAC do? How do I know if it’s for me?

Are you interested in learning about art through a global collection spanning 5,000 years of history? Would you like to collaborate with contemporary artists and museum professionals from New Orleans and beyond? Are you passionate about designing programs and experiences for youth and teens in your community? As a TAC member, you’ll not only learn about art, you will also gain invaluable professional experience, get exposure to creative careers in museums and the arts, and develop as a creative thinker and leader.

When does the Teen Art Council meet?

TAC meets weekly on Wednesday evenings, January through May, plus additional days for field trips, workshops, and teen book club.

Who should apply?

Creative New Orleans–area high school students of all kinds! TAC is open to students from a variety of school settings including public, charter, private, and homeschool. We deeply value, celebrate, and support all ranges of experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives. Teens who are interested in developing skills relating to community engagement, visual art, creative careers, and the art and museum fields are encouraged to apply.

Please note that NOMA’s Teen Art Council is a semester-long commitment. Members meet weekly on Wednesday evenings, January through May. TAC members can submit meetings and events for school-required volunteer hours.
