Friday Nights at NOMA: Maya Symposium Keynote Address

Fri, March 4th, 2016 at 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM

This Friday night, NOMA is hosting the annual Tulane Maya Symposium Keynote Address. Tulane University’s Middle American Research Institute (MARI) and Far Horizons are proud to present the 13th Annual Tulane Maya Symposium and Workshop. This year’s symposium, titled “Ixiktaak: Ancient Maya Women,” will focus on the significance of women in ancient Maya society. The invited scholars have explored this topic from different disciplinary perspectives, including archaeology, iconography, physical anthropology, and epigraphy. For more information on the full symposium schedule, click here.

This year’s keynote will be given by Dr. Mary Ellen Miller of Yale University, who will guide us through her recent research on Jaina figurines. As always, all Friday Nights at NOMA programs are included with museum admission (and free for members).
