NOMA’s Art Thrives program creates opportunities exclusively for adults ages 55 and up to learn new skills while building community and having fun. In collaboration with the NOLA Project, we invite you to join us for an eight-session theater course themed “Shakespeare Alive!”
For many Americans, Shakespeare is something they associate with reading and studying in school. But in truth, his work was meant to be seen, heard, and enjoyed aloud and in person. In Shakespeare Alive!, participants will have the opportunity to interact with the Bard the way actors do—by learning to speak verse, apply actions, use vocal techniques, and learn about all the hidden clues Shakespeare provides actors within the text.
This is an adult acting course for beginners and advanced students. The course will conclude with a celebratory performance for friends and family members in which each participant gets time to shine on the stage. The only things required are a curious mind and an open heart.
Space is limited and advanced registration is required.
Please contact jrjohnson@noma.org or 504.658.4140 for more information or to inquire about future Art Thrives programs
$160 for the entire course | $120 for members
