NOMA’s Art Thrives program creates opportunities exclusively for adults ages 55 and up to learn new skills while building community and having fun. In collaboration with ricRACK NOLA and in conjunction with the special exhibition Fashioning America: Grit to Glamour on view from July 21 – November 26, 2023 we invite you to join us for an eight-session sewing and design course!
Fiber, textiles, and adornment take the spotlight in this workshop. Participants will work with professional sewists to learn technical sewing skills while drawing inspiration from Fashioning America: Grit to Glamour, using imagination and resourcefulness to design and create projects they are proud of. Principles of re-use, repurpose and “greener” ways to dress will be highlighted while also honing their ability to display & present their creations. The course culminates in a fun and sustainable showcase that highlights the your design process and showcases your creations to friends and family.
The Art Thrives Sewing and Design Course is for both beginners and advanced students. Space is limited and advanced registration is required.
