An event every day that begins at 10:00 AM, repeating until Wed, September 27th, 2023

NOMA’s Art Thrives program creates opportunities exclusively for adults ages 55 and up to learn new skills while building community and having fun. Join us at the YAYA Art Center for our two-day ring-making workshop where teaching artist Kyra Hodes will guide you in learning the basics of metalsmithing. You’ll use copper, fire, stones, and various hand tools to make a beautiful ring designed and hand-crafted by you! Please note that if fine motor skills are challenging for you, assistance will be available to help you complete each step towards crafting your ring. All levels of skill and experience are welcome.

This workshop is offered in conjunction with Ring Redux: The Susan Grant Lewin Collection at NOMA.

$160 for the entire course | $120 for NOMA members

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Kyra Hodes is an artist and metalsmith from St. Louis, Missouri, and based in New Orleans, Louisiana. While working toward her BFA in Fine Arts with a focus in metalwork, she found her love for making jewelry. Her inspiration is derived from the elements. Metalsmithing provides the perfect outlet for her passions: using fire and organically derived materials to create artifacts that embody the environment from which they came. Her work revolves around nature and organic elements—embodying them, isolating them, accentuating them.

NOMA’s Art Thrives programs are supported by E.A. Michelson Philanthropy.
