Description
Vase hand-thrown by Joseph Fortune Meyer, and then decorated by hand by Harriet Joor with a "chinaberries" pattern. Made at New Orleans' Newcomb College Pottery (active 1895-1940), one of the most significant American art potteries of the twentieth century. The Newcomb Pottery enterprise played a role in promoting art, education, and gainful employment for women.
