Description

A richly carved ivory tusk portraying two superimposed figures: above, a seated female holding a child and wearing an elaborate headdress or hat and below, a kneeling male holding a musket and wearing a gun powder pouch across his torso. Both figures wear a ruff collar suggestive of a Portuguese ruff of the era.
