Art & Process: Tintype Workshop with Artist Timothy Duffy

In advance of NOMA’s upcoming photographic exhibition Timothy Duffy: Blue Muse, on view April 25 through July 28, 2019, photographer Timothy Duffy will offer a workshop to the public demonstrating the creation of his wet-plate collodion tintype photographs. Attendees will have the opportunity to observe and engage with a 19th-century photographic process which offered the first “instant” photographs.

ABOUT TIMOTHY DUFFY

Timothy Duffy (born in New Haven, Connecticut, 1963) is a renowned photographer and Founder of the Music Maker Relief Foundation. Duffy has been recording and photographing traditional artists in the South since the age of 16, when he became interested in ethnomusicology. After earning a BA from Friends World College and MA from the Curriculum in Folklore at the UNC, Tim and his wife Denise founded Music Maker Relief Foundation in 1994 to assist traditional musicians in need.
