In celebration of National Poetry Month, NOMA is offering a FREE poetry workshop for students in grades 6 – 12, led by teaching artists Andy Young and Anne Marie Rooney. Workshop participants will tour the museum and select a work of art that inspires or engages them, and working with professional writers, students will develop and write a poem. Young poets are invited to submit their completed poem to NOMA for publication in a soft-bound book which will be mailed to all participants. Experienced and novice poets are invited to apply.

Schedule:

• 10 am: Introductions / Tours
• 11 am – 12:15 pm: Workshops led by Andy Young and Anne Marie Rooney
• 12:15 – 12:40 pm: Lunch Provided
• 12:40 – 2 pm: Guided writing time
• 2 – 3 pm: Share poems/Wrap-up
• 3 pm: Workshop ends
