Tina Freeman: Lamentations

Over the past seven years, Tina Freeman has photographed the wetlands of Louisiana and the glacial landscapes of the Arctic and Antarctic. In this 84-page catalog for Lamentations, an exhibition on view at NOMA through March 15, 2020, she pairs images from each place in a series of diptychs that function as concise visual narratives about rising sea levels, ecological balance, and the connectedness of natural phenomena across time and space. Freeman’s photographs make plain the crucial global dialogue about water in two physical states, while also exploring how and what we can learn from photographs.
