Teresita Fernández: Wayfinding

Wayfinding – moving from place to place – is as much of the body and mind as it is of the sky, the stars, and the landscape around us. It is also critical to understanding Teresita Fernández’s artistic approach, which incorporates the use of unconventional materials such as graphite, pyrite, fired clay, gold, and malachite to explore how we construct and imagine our surroundings, from immense to intimate, subterranean to celestial.

This book is a migration, a constellation of works rather than a chronology. Readers are invited to explore the complete breadth of Fernández’s career through sensuous images, with contributions by Denise Markonish, Isolde Brielmaier, Ana Dopico, and Elizabeth King featured alongside the artist’s own writings and a new poem by David Hinton.
