TITLE: Programs Assistant
REPORTS TO: Deputy Director of Learning & Engagement
FLSA STATUS: Full-time
Rate: $27,000–30,000
JOB SUMMARY:
The New Orleans Museum of Art seeks a motivated programs assistant to support the administrative needs of the learning and engagement functions of the museum, with particular focus on supporting public, community engagement, and creative aging programs. This full-time assistant is responsible for program registration, and acts as a main conduit for inquiries from the public. This individual must have an understanding of the importance of education within the museum’s mission, a clear communication style, and the ability to anticipate and solve challenges creatively. This entry-level position requires a team player that will work closely with Learning and Engagement staff and perform other department duties as necessary.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Support and maintain department’s Tessitura needs, including ticketing and program registration.
- Create interdepartmental programming memos and represent the department at weekly logistics meetings
- Create artist, speaker, and performer agreements
- Maintain all program reports and attendance tracking
- Maintain ongoing documentation and archiving of program information
- Code all department invoices and maintain regular budget tracking
- Program signage
- Logistics and on-hand program support
- Food and beverage (bar coordination, catering for smaller programs, etc)
- Greet program partners, readers, artists, performers, etc. as necessary
- Greet school and tour groups as necessary
- Support programs across audiences as necessary
- General administrative support as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Coursework in Art History, Studio Art, Museum Studies, Arts Administration, Humanities, Education, or similar field; BA preferred.
- Available to work on weekends and evenings as needed
- Experience working with the general public
- Experience working collaboratively with colleagues, staff, and partners
- Excellent verbal and written abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects
- Experience with Excel & spreadsheets
- Experience with Tessitura a plus, but not required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This can be sedentary work that requires the following physical activities:
- Sitting for long periods of time, walking, finger dexterity, talking, hearing and visual activity
- Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds of art supplies, tables or other furniture, A/V equipment, computer equipment or paper supplies)
