6:30 pm: Discussion followed by a book signing.

Looking Again is designed to provide the reader with a glimpse both into the collection at the New Orleans Museum of Art and into photography’s complexity. Through 131 objects and essays, this new volume addresses long-held beliefs and offers new ways of thinking about, and looking at, photographs. Begun in the early 1970s, the New Orleans Museum of Art’s photography collection is today one of the finest in the country, numbering over twelve thousand works and spanning the history of photography from the early 1840s to the present. This book is published on the centennial of the first photography exhibition presented at the New Orleans Museum of Art in 1918. Copies may be purchased online at the NOMA Shop.

Lord will also lead a series of three Classes with Curators on March 6, 13, and 20, about the history of photography from its origins to the present.

Looking Again: Photography at the New Orleans Museum of Art is copublished by the New Orleans Museum of Art and Aperture. Support is provided by Kitty and Stephen Sherrill, Adrea Heebe and Dominick Russo, Dr. H. Russell Albright, Tina Freeman and Philip Woollam, Joshua Mann Pailet, Josephine Sacabo and Ms. E. Alexandra Stafford. Additional support is provided by John Abajian and Scott Simmons, E. John Bullard, Milly and George Denegre, A. L. Jung III, Cherye R. and James F.
